You will have this class three times a week all year, either in block 2 (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) or block 7 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday). It is back-to-back with your PE9 class (so if you have IT 9 in block 2, you have PE 9 in block 7, and vice-versa).
The Prescribed Learning Outcomes for this course (the things the BC Ministry of Education says you MUST be able to do before you can pass this class) are listed on this wiki; you can click on the link at the start of this paragraph to see them.
Marks/Grades
The BC Ministry of Education requires us to use the following scale:
Letter Grade
Percentage Grade
Description
A
86-100%
Student demonstrates excellent or outstanding performance
Student does not demonstrate minimally acceptable performance
NM
NO MARK
Student has not demonstrated one or more of the Prescribed Learning Outcomes (above). As such, the teacher cannot assign a meaningful mark at this time.
Marks of "I" will be converted to "F" at the end of the course (June).
Students with a mark of "NM" MUST complete the outstanding assignment(s) before the end of the reporting period. Course Topics
Course topics will include: Internet Safety, File Management, Troubleshooting, Email and Text Etiquette, Microsoft PowerPoint, Ergonomics, Research Skills, Keyboarding, Microsoft Word, Careers in Information Technology, Website Creation, Camera Techniques, Video Editing, Storyboarding, and Microsoft Excel.
Other topics may be approached if there is time and interest. Final Project (Final Exam)
Each student will create an e-portfolio (a website) which will showcase all the work done over the year. After computers are collected, each student's e-portfolio will be reviewed by the teacher and the student in an exit interview. The e-portfolio and interview together are the student's final project, worth 20% of her final mark.
